Bu s\u00fcre\u00e7te \u0130slam\u2019\u0131 farkl\u0131 k\u00fclt\u00fcrlerden insanlar\u0131n benimsemesi bir tabakala\u015fmay\u0131 getirmi\u015ftir. Bat\u0131n\u0131n kaybetti\u011fi hikmetin yerine civilization kavram\u0131 bu d\u00f6nemde ge\u00e7mi\u015ftir. Bu kavrama T\u00fcrk\u00e7ede medeniyet diyoruz ancak bu o lafz\u0131 kar\u015f\u0131lam\u0131yor. \u00c7\u00fcnk\u00fc medeniyetin \u0130ngilizcedeki kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u2018civility\u2019dir. 1850\u2019li y\u0131llarda Sanayi Devrimi\u2019nden sonra H\u0131ristiyan medeniyeti veya Avrupa medeniyeti gibi tamlamalar kullan\u0131lmaya ba\u015fl\u0131yor. K\u0131saca Hristiyan \u00fcmmetinin yerini Hristiyan medeniyeti al\u0131yor.
